Bernard awoke with a start. His dreams were filled with past dental procedures; this part wasn't unusual. However, the patients usually chatted with him. These were more silent than usual. Not only that, some of them only spoke in hushed rustling. Now, as he looked around the beach, he realized the dreams might have been more real than he thought. Several people were missing from where he saw them when he left the jungle.
Tana. Where was she? He lost sight of her when they reached the beach yesterday. He panicked a little when he didn't see her anywhere. It wasn't like he was attracted to her or anything...he certainly wasn't...and he was sure Rose was still alive...but she was the one to help him down from near certain death.
He started to look around for anyone he recognized. He saw the woman Tana introduced him to yesterday...Bella, he thought. He walked over to her, careful not to startle the group that gathered. "Hey...Bella, right? I'm Bernard. Any idea what happened last night?"

Following with every thought of remorse in her mind for what she was about to see, Ana-Lucia mentally prepared herself as her form slipped behind the bushes and into the area that held the two bodies. Holding a hand to her nose to keep from breathing in the stench for a moment, it smelled of rotting bodies that was for sure. When the woman was sure she could keep her stomach in check she let her hand drop to her side and moved toward one of the bodies, inspecting them. Nothing. Not so much as the list and the knife Ana had found last night. A frown came to her lips as she moved down into a squat and placed both her hands to the clothing of the first body. "We need to drag these further into the jungle, I'll dig a hole deep enough to put the bodies in and mention nothing of this to the other survivors." Eko was strong enough to lift one man and Ana was pretty sure he didn't care if he got anymore blood on him. "Then you need to go clean up by the stream." a frown. "One, two..." lifting the first body and dragged it by the clothing of the shirt deeper into the jungle. Setting it down with a heavy thud careful not to leave anymore blood tracks anywhere. Sure her boots had made footprints now from the bottom of her shoes but she'd see what she could do.
Upon returning to Eko once more the slender girl bent to take the next body not sure if he'd help her or not. But if he did she'd start to drag it right where the other had been. "If they see blood they'll panic." saying in a calm yet serious tone. He needed to scrub the now dried blood off of him. The Spanish girl contemplated what to do for a split second before grabbing a large branch and and moved back toward the bodies, snapping the already dead and separated from-the-tree branch, Ana began to dig into the ground, ready to have her work cut out for her.
She had to hurry however or people would start to wonder where they went. Thoughts raced through her mind, fingernails dirtied with soil underneath them and just kept stabbing the earth with the large stick. By the time she was done with the first round, Cortez kept going despite the sweat starting to form at her brow. And the tears that stung her eyes but did not fall.

Isabelle awoke with a start. She could remember the yelling the rustling from the bushes. She sat up and looked around. There were people missing including the children. She put a hand to her head and felt the bruise from the crash. It ached when she touched it with cold fingertips. She could only remember figures running and screaming. The children were taken and someone had hit hyer head right at the same bruise. After that everything was blank. She glanced around to see Eko and Ana-Lucia walk away with Eko covered in what looked like blood. The others stood around confused and wondering over what had hapened. What had happened? She asked herself repetativley.
She let her gaze fall on first Bella and Bernard who seemed to be talking and then onto Aldo who Ana-Lucia had not seemed to like very much. She also glanced at whoever else was awake. She stood shakily and her head throbbed suddenly almost forcing her to her knees. She held her head in her hands for a moment pushing her hair back from her eyes so she could see better. Her cut which had been healing was open again and bled slightly. It wasn't bad but stung when she touched it. She couldn't think straight and moved to a bush nearbye. She kneeled and threw up. She breathed in deeply when done and didn't move.
She heard somthing from up ahead but did not try to get closer. As her ears strained she heard a voice she recognized as Ana-Lucia say, "If they see blood they'll panic." She shuddered not wanting to know what had triggered these words. Instead she closed her eyes and tried to steady her breathing and clear her head of the fuzzyness it held at the moment.
She could feel the soft sand mixed in with the dirt surrounding the bushes under her knees and it reminded her of days playing in the sand box with her brother. No worries, no cares. Just trying her hardest to build a bigger sand castle then him. She also remebered when she was sick he would hold her hair for her. Where was he now? All she knew was that hear she was and there was her hair, hanging limply around her shoulders.

The one known as Bella seemed to be in too much shock to respond to what Bernard said. All of a sudden another woman ran off toward the tree line and heaved into a bush. He couldn't tell if it was from what happened last night or something else, but he decided to give her some space.
He was reminded that he wasn't the only one hurting on this island, though that didn't help his situation. He didn't know if Rose had been taken during the night or even if she was still alive. He spotted and made his way to a pile of random things that looked salvaged from the wreckage.
After a few minutes of digging, he came across his carry-on bag. He thanked himself for remembering a change of clothes. Or rather, Rose nagging him to remember. Right as he thought that, he came across a picture of them together in New York. He fought back his emotions as he rejoined the main group; he hoped that wasn't all he had left of his wife.

Bella hadn't really heard what Bernard had said, other than his name. She was stunned and didn't understand what was going on. After a bit, her mind finally comprehended. She saw Bernard and went towards him. "Hey," she greeted him. "Sorry that I didn't respond. I don't know - I guess that it didn't register in my mind. I have no idea though. I was going to ask someone." She rolled her eyes a little. "I sleep too deeply."

Bernard walked back to the group and the woman he knew as Bella approached him apologizing for earlier. "It's no problem. I'm sure we're all a little...off right now. Say, you wouldn't happen to have seen an African-American woman, have you? Looks like this?" He showed Bella the picture he recovered on the off-chance that she had seen Rose.

Bella looked at the picture then shook her head. "No, sorry, I haven't," she apologzied. "But I'll keep an eye out for her." She figured that there had to be some survivors in the jungle...maybe. Bella was keeping hope up. Even if she had no one on the plane to be worrying about. They couldn't have been the only ones that survived. And they would certainly be venturing into the jungle, wouldn't they? People would eventually turn up.
