(Well, it's late at night, there's no one to talk to, I'm bored as hell, so why not. Besides the other thread, who says I can't post the second thread who was supposed to be the first one? So, meh.)
Ava dragged herself and Khu up the beach. She slumped to the side and hugged the dog to her body, searching for warmth. Blood leeched from the dog's wound from his nose to his left eye, but other than that, he seemed okay. Ava wiped it off with her shirt but that little bugger just kept bleeding. Lucky for him, it wasn't too much blood. Ava on the other hand, got away with only one or two scratches, one was only about an inch deep. She buried her face into the animal's fur, who wrapped his paws around her head affectionately. The girl slowly ran her fingers through his fur. She drifted off into a rather uncomfortable slumber, but none the less, she was asleep.
When Ava woke up, people were scattered around, tending to other's wounds, talking, fighting. What people normally do. Khu licked her face and twisted his body with uncomfort. She moaned, then flipped over, trying to get back to sleep. The brute tilted his head, then went to lick her face again. He barked twice in her ear, hoping to get her up. Ava growled, then sat up, feeling her cut. Nothin' too bad. I wonder how Khu will hold up. She thought, rather concerned. Khu slopped his tongue all over his face, trying to lick the long cut, but only got a small part that seemed to be healing okay. Scabbing had taken the place, and the skin around it didn't look red or infected.
Ava fell back and sighed. "Just our luck, huh boy?" She spoke to her friend in confidence, she didn't give a care what other people thought. Talking to your dog was the same way of talking to other people, right? Ava wasn't crazy. Khu sat down and whined, then nudged his scarred head under her arm for reasurrance. Ava remembered when she got Khu from the shelter. It was his last day to live. No one wanted him because they thought he was ugly, a killer. Khu was used for dog fighting, and if he lost, he was brutally punished. Cigarette butts had been pushed into his head, leaving horrible scars scattered around his maw.
Part of his lip was missing, but somehow, Khu was just the best looking dog she had ever seen. The second she came through those doors, Ava rushed over to his cage and began to cry. She didn't want this poor little animal to die, not after what had happened to him. Boy, did she make the right decision. Since then, Khu was the best friend she ever wanted, or had for that matter. Ava gave Khu a fierce hug, then stood up to look at the surroundings. The beach reeked with blood. People were laying on the ground, dead, some suffering. Ava glanced sadly at the beach. They weren't going to get anwyere out of here soon.
Khu's ears sharpened immediately, and his fur ruffled up slightly. He cautiously padded up to a girl with dirty blond hair pinned down by some heavy metal object. Ava followed the canine. Her eyes stretched wide and she bent down, Khu pushed on her shoulder, drooling all over, until she pushed him away. Ava checked for a pulse; positive. She tried to lift it, but she struggled under it's weight. Khu nosed under, trying to help. "Can you try and....crawl from under it?" Ava knew it was kinda stupid, she had no muscle in her arms. She hoped that she didn't drop the metal part back down.
