The mission was complete, and Aldo was to continue surveillance on the tailies that remained.
Ethan had been sent back to the Barracks. Harper, Richard, and a few Others took with them the one called Tana and the children Emma and Zack.
One of the men had killed two of Aldo's team in the night. Such violent tendencies. He shook his head.
The young spy lay in his shelter, waiting for the action to begin. Despite the tragic losses, a smile crossed Aldo's face as he planned his day.

The night had faded, and Eko was alone now in the jungle. At last. The evidence of his bloody work was scattered around him.
The man was sprawled on the ground, upon his stomach, still panting heavily though the deed had been done for a while now. It felt like hours, but it could have been any amount of time. He was not a good judge for the passage of time in his present situation. They had come upon him, out of the dark. These men, these strangers. They had grabbed him from where he slept and attempted to carry him away into the jungle, to be swallowed by trees and shadow and probably not emerge again. But they had obviously not bargained upon his own strength, the intensity with which he retaliated. After much struggle, he had slipped out of their grip and fought back. It began with a simple exchange of blows, but for him, the struggle became desperate. They were not going to carry the man away... he would not let them.
So the fight had turned toward more desperate measures. And when it became clear that Eko could not win this fight on strength alone, he had lifted the nearest weapon he could find--a stone-- and brought crashing down upon his would-be captors. He struck once, twice, three times and until they moved no more, uttered no more sound, and drew no more breath. It was only then that Eko felt safe, and in control of himself once more. He had now committed a deed he thought he would never do again. The priest in him instantly regretted his actions, and yet that part of his clashed with the other portion of his soul, the fighting spirit, which assured him that his actions were justified. He did not think he still had murder in his heart, but he was wrong. For when he was threatened, he would do what it took for self-preservation, and the preservation of the lives of those around him. One could never really escape his past, or the actions of his past.
So there he lay, the murder weapon still clutched in his hand. He knew he had to get up, and tell the others what had happened to him, find out if any of them were taken. He forced himself to get to his knees, then, shakily, to his feet. But for several more minutes he felt himself unable to move away from the area, staring at the still bodies of the men he'd killed. Finally he tore his gaze away, and with a grunt, he staggered from the bushes, the rock still clutched like a life line in his hand.

Furious. Angry. Depressed. Regretful. Ana-Lucia hadn't slept a wink that night, and most certainly didn't feel any better in the matter. However, she had found a knife out of all of this. As cool as it was it still didn't mean she'd get the children back. Or some of the people they lost. Frowning as she moved away from the make-shift tent, the young woman began to walk the beach. Seemed to be a little early. Ana would let them sleep a little longer. She knew Libby already knew what was going on, Libby knew everything without Cortez having to say a word.
Let them sleep. Might as well. They would need the rest for the journey ahead of them. The Latina took a seat on the edge of a large rock and began to carve a piece of a thick stick with the antique militant knife. Watching as the sawdust pieces blew in the wind. Along with all her dreams and memories. Pitiful really. Wouldn't her mother be proud of her now? Hazel hues looked down to the water and then back to the knife. An olive colored hand placed the stick beside her on the rock and began to inspect the knife further. It wasn't just an antique, it was of the military.
"I'll be damned..." Ana said suspiciously to herself.

There was motion out there, but definitely no screaming. Aldo climbed from his shelter, noting his surroundings. Several bags had been brought back from the jungle, and Olivia, the girl he searched with the other day, was still rooting through them for something.
A large, muscular man was just crawling to his feet, covered in dried blood. A pang of emotion fleeted through Aldo's mind, but he managed to dismiss it. He wasn't even sure whom had died last night, just that it was two. He would have to check later.
Aldo's gaze turned down to Ana Lucia, the self-appointed leader of the group. Well, she hadn't really said she was the leader. She just acted like she was.
She held an old knife in her hands, whispering something. Aldo froze behind her as he recognized its military insignia. That was not Ana's knife. He hoped it wouldn't give her any ideas.

Damion opened his eyes as he sat up and placed his unbroken wrist in the sand as he glanced around and noticed that some of his fellow survivors were still sleeping, but some were up. Mr. Eko was up, Aldo, Libby, and their leader Ana Lucia was up. Damion bit his lower lip as he decided to stand up. However, once he stood up he noticed that the children that were about fifty feet from him where gone.
He remembered hearing voices last night, but it seemed like a dream. He wasn't sure if it was real or not. He dropped the subject in his mind, sighing as he wondered towards Aldo. "Hey what happened?"

That's when her spider sense seemed to jump to action. In all truth? Ana-Lucia didn't trust Aldo, didn't like Aldo and most certainly didn't need him behind her. She turned her head to the side. "Morning." with that rasp and attempted to be nice. That was until Damion had started to speak and instantly she hopped off of that rock, taking the knife and decided enough was enough. Speaking to Damion rather than Aldo who she was sure had been spying on her. "We're moving out. We can't stay here anymore. Grab what you need, leave the things you don't." and she moved away from them, with sadness and a blank stare heading for the rest of the camp.

Damion was waiting for Aldo to reply, but when he heard Ana Lucia, the leader of their group. He did an about face like he did when he was in the Corps and decided to get what he needed. He grabbed his pack and placed it over his shoulder. He sighed as he wanted to know what happened last night, but he probably knew that he wasn't going to be told about it yet.
Damion folded his arms in pain as he waited for further instruction from their leader. Damion knew that they hadn't picked a leader of their little group, but Ana Lucia he assumed that was her name emerged as the leader and no one was actually questioning her actions. He gazed around their little camp.

Eko could see Ana Lucia discussing something with the others in the distance, and he headed for her, gritting his teeth. Blood was spattered on his clothing; he did not think much of it was his, but it was possible. Adrenaline could have been covering up any pain he might feel from his own injuries. Besides, none of that mattered. He had to tell people about the bodies. They might be helpful somehow, might provide some clue as to why they were attacked last night. Eko himself didn't understand it.
Finally, he neared the woman. His dark eyes flitted amongst the survivors, as if subconsciously trying to ascertain if there were any missing from their number. But of course, that was a useless gesture as they were not all assembled yet. "Ana," he said sharply, reaching out to take her by the shoulder. Her body was significantly smaller than his, and he towered over her. But this was one woman he would never judge by size alone. There was a fire in her, and he could see it in the way she had taken charge during the aftermath. She wanted to keep everyone safe, like he did. He could tell her, and she would not be prone to panic. "There's something I need to show you." He knew he must look a mess, standing there covered in dried blood. But perhaps that would help them take this seriously. [/blockquote] |

Panic. Panic was strewn in words from the survivors, in their facial expressions and Ana-Lucia had tried to contain it like a virus gone wrong in the world. Brown eyes watched as Eko had began to come up to her; covered in dried blood. Make no mistake that was blood. He knew. She knew he knew everything that had happened and by tucking a few pieces of her own ebony strands behind her ear it showed off the long scratch at her cheek that was still slightly bleeding. It was a struggle that's for sure. Still, lost in her own thoughts had the brunette been snapped out of them as he had uttered her name with a pang of regret in her mind. As he had taken her by the shoulder the petite girl looked up to him as if with sadness and a hell of alot of regret. What did he want her to say to him? What could she say?
Opening her mouth to speak, he did instead. Ana listened intently. He needed to show her something? Arching both eyebrows Ana replied bluntly, but calmly. "What haven't I already seen before?" and frowned and finally, barely had mouthed. "Are you okay?" looking to him, studying his wounds. There were more things to be dealt with right now. So she waited until he'd show her what he needed to show her. And by God he was speaking, it took him a while. Hell, she knew he wasn't mute or anything, but when he spoke... he said the most important and Godly things the woman had heard in a long time.
It was like he was a saint on this island. Wanting to turn back to see what Aldo and Damion were up to, still her body wouldn't move until Eko instructed her to follow, she had to stand her ground.

In an instant there was life everywhere.
Ana spoke nonchalantly, but her tone gave her away. She knew something was going on still. She might even know that he was one of them. Aldo silently tried to calm his panic.
"Hey, what happened?" There was another young man behind Aldo, waiting for an answer. Aldo had none.
Ana replied for him. "We're moving out. We can't stay here anymore. Grab what you need, leave the things you don't."
Mercy, she was on fire. Aldo needed time to report this, but it seemed he wouldn't get that time soon.
The bloodied man joined the group, his imposing figure commanding the attention of all. He spoke quietly to Ana, and Aldo sensed a direct, sincere trust between the two. Noted.
Aldo turned and attempted to succintly answer Damion's earlier question. "There was a fight last night. Some of us are... missing. We don't think we're alone here."

Damion listened to Aldo or so he thought that was his name. He looked at the man. "Are you insisting that we landed on some island that is inhabited?" Damion snapped as he started to pace back and forth. The group was now assuming that there were other people on the island. He shook his head as he thought of people on this island. If there were inhabits on this island why would they put up a fight.
Damion sighed as he stopped pacing back and forth. He glanced up at Aldo. "So I really wasn't dreaming last night and I thought I was" Damion announced. He had heard whispers and just thought he was dreaming, he wasn't it was real.

"Inhabited, yeah," Aldo agreed. "I mean.... I guess if you think about it, what are the odds that an island is completely uninhabited, right?"
It was clear that these people assumed the worst, that Aldo's people were native savages that attacked for no reason. That wasn't the case at all, no. The people taken were needed. For what, exactly, Aldo didn't know, but it wasn't his job to know that.

"Right" replied Damion as he looked oddly at Aldo. Something didn't feel right and he wasn't going to investigate it further. He would just shut his month. "So we are on an island that probably never even been discovered kind of like some of the Salmon Islands in World World 2." Damion sighed as he thought about the island hoping history that he was taught when he was in the Corp.

Bella's night had been filled with an unrestful sleep after the incident. It hadn't been nice. She slowly sat up. Lovely - the sun stared her right in the face. Bella stood up, slinging her bag over her shoulder. A group of people had gathered, discussing something. Bella wandered over, staying quiet and listening to what they were saying.
"There was a fight last night. Some of us are...missing. We don't think we're here alone," one man stated.
"Are you insisting that we landed on some island that is inhabited?" another snapped, beginning to pace. After a moment, he stopped. "So I really wasn't dreaming last night and I thought I was..."
"Inhabited, yeah," the first said. "I mean, I guess if you think about it, what are the odds that an island is completely uninhabited."
"Right," the second replied. "So we are on an island that probably never even been discovered kind of like some of the Salmon Islands in World War 2."
Bella looked at the people who had gathered. She was slightly confused. She knew what had happened the night before, and she got the general idea of their conversation, but it wasn't quite all forming in her mind. Bella decided to keep her mouth shut for now - it wouldn't be a good idea to let her personality shine through right now.

Eko's frown only increased as she spoke, putting her thoughts to him rather bluntly. He could understand the way she must feel; after what had happened to them since the crash, it seemed as though there could not be anything more to see, anything worse to experience. He had no idea Ana Lucia's past was like, but he got the feeling that she had her share of worldly experience. To be so calm and not panic as others were doing suggested that she had experience with dire situations. This, her first question, seemed mostly rhetorical, and so he did not answer.
"Are you okay?"
Eko studied the woman for a moment, before giving a sharp inclination of his head. "Yes." He realized that she must have meant with regards to the state of his clothing, crusted over with blood from the struggle. "This," he said, gesturing at himself, "is not all from me." He gave an involuntary glance back in the direction he'd come from, back to where the two bodies lay concealed by foliage. What he told her was the truth; the blood that spattered his clothing was mostly theirs, not his own. Some it might stem from his own body, yes, but he did not even feel the pain of any potential wounds he might have on his person. All of that was of secondary importance to him now. He needed to show Ana what he had found... what he had done. She would know what to do with them. And it had to be her, first, before anyone else found them and grew frightened.
"You will understand, but you must come with me, now." He said urgently, and then turned to lead her back across the sand in the way he'd come. His footsteps mirrored those of his path across the beach the first time, except now they pointed east instead of west. His long strides covered the ground quickly, and within moments he was back where he'd come from, where he'd lain for a good portion of the early morning, awake in the darkness with the image of his deeds.
Eko pulled apart the branches and ushered the woman into the clump of bushes and shrubbery that housed this den of sin that he had created. It was only he who saw it that way, and he must try to push that perception away. He could not view this in a moral way now. All that was important was that it would have been these people, or him, and he had done what he needed to survive. "Here," he said, pointing uncessarily to the two bodies. The area was steeped with blood from where he had clubbed their skulls with the stone. It was beginning to smell of decay already. "These men came for me last night. But they did not succeed."
