The next morning was bright and sunny. The sun shone gracefully upon the ground below. Ava growled, then snapped her blinds shut. How could everyone and everything be so happy when she just wanted it to be gray. Ava shoved her hand under the pillow, ready for something, but saw her mom. She rolled her eyes unenthusiastically, then quietly drew her forearm to behind her back. Behind the young woman, a tall man with bloodshot eyes glared angrily. He lifted his lip, and screwed up his face in disgust. He then walked off, bumping into the walls and the couch. Ava smiled triumpantly. What an idiot. So drunk, he didn't even know he was drunk, metaphorically of course. Ava followed her mother as she was summoned to the dining table.
Her brown eyes lit up with happiness. A whole plate of food was steaming hot, and looking delicious when she walked up. The husky and of course, drunk voice of her dad interruted her fantasy. "Not for you. You sit at end of table. No food for you. He said. What a retard! He can't even talk straight. Ava slumped in her chair, and looked at the empty plate. It was squeaky clean. She crossed her arms angrily, and gave her mom a dirty look. The woman looked back, stared at her for a moment, then continued to eat. A young man about the age of his twenties slid into the chair Ava usually sat in. She glared menancingly at the man, who then scooted the chair away from her. Ava watched him whisper to them, and trembled with frustration when they laughed. Ava grabbed her plate, then chucked it at his head, laughing when he fell over crying.
Ava saw her father rise up, then dashed for her room, and reached under her pillow. The second he entered, he topped dead in his tracks. She pointed the little butter knife at hmi, geniusly opening the window without looking. Ava buckled her legs, ready to jump, when out of the blue, he brought out a gun and shot her right in the arm. Ava fell out, head first. She screamed as she hit the ground, but heard him stomp out of her small room. The girl wrinkled her nose, then began to run. She ran down the street, past the pub, past the liquor store, and past the pet store. Ava dropped the butter knife, and stopped in an alley. She began to pant heavily, then dropped to the ground, trying to laugh. Ava had so much satisfaction from the look on is face, she didn't care that she was shot, she hardly even felt it. So, I guess tomorrow, she'd have to run to the hospital.
