Goodwin had got back from the jungle and was at the beach camp. He looked around and observed the survivor's behaviour. Some had started building small shelters and some even building signal fires.
'Like anyone else would see it' he thought to himself. He walked into the main camp and settled down by a fire. The cut on his face hurt a little, and he regretted doing it, but if it worked, then it would have served its purpose.
He had already started gathering names. Hurley and John Locke. Hopefully Mikhail would be able to find a set of their names and could match them up over at The Flame. It was a while since he visited Mikhail. Mostly due to the time Mikhail almost shot him in the leg.

Jack had been exhausting himself walking all over the beach. Now he finally took some time to sit by one of the small signal fires and he felt a presence looking at him across the flames. He looked up and saw another man, another cut, another bruise. Like everyone else, he would be wanting help, not that Jack minded. He felt himself try to stand but he would need a minute, he was tired. So he made small talk instead.
"Hey stranger, I'm Jack, Jack Shephard. I'm a doctor. I'll take a look at that cut on your cheek if you like, but I think you'll live." Jack was quiet a second. It occurred to him that beside Kate, the only real connections he had made were names, superficial hellos as he mended wounds. Ironicaly, he didn't realize the first person he was going to try to establish a real connection with had possibly the most to hide. "So what's your story bud, where are you from?"

"Hey stranger, I'm Jack, Jack Shephard. I'm a doctor. I'll take a look at that cut on your cheek if you like, but I think you'll live." Jack said. Goodwin turned as Jack sat beside him. Jack Shephard. Another name, and he's a doctor. Did they know he needed a list? He was certainly making this easy for him.
"So what's your story bud, where are you from?" Jack said.
"I'm not really from anywhere. I travel a lot with the Peace Corps, so I get to see lost of different places. I'm Goodwin by the way, nice to meet you" Goodwin said, extending his arm to Jack.

Jack smiled as the friendly man extended his arm out and shook it firmly. "Nice to meet you too." Jack sat back against the sand once more. Peace Corps, that could come in handy. He might know some things about living in the jungle. Jack made a mental note to remember this man at least, if he remembered no others.
"I figured rescue would have been here by now. All this stuff you hear on the news about the world getting smaller and smaller everyday. We've been here nearly twelve hours, and... nothing. Not even a flare. Maybe we can find a transceiver, who knows. Too late now to go out in the jungle, we don't really know what might live out there. If I put together a group tomorrow, you interested in coming?"

Goodwin thought for a moment. He knew the transceiver wouldn't work. Mikhail had told him no-one could transmit anything from the island without it being from The Flame. He could go with them to destroy it, but if it didn't work, what would be the point? He could use the transceiver as a way of gaining trust from these people. If the 'falling out of a plane' thing didn't work, then helping them to escape the island would be enough proof that, if they ever discovered it, he was on the plane.
"That sounds great, Jack. I'll be sure to tag along." Goodwin said, smiling to Jack. "Would you take a look at the cut on my face. I don't know what happened to it, its like I hit a branch on the way down" Goodwin said sarcastically.

"Yeah, or maybe a branch hit you," Jack said, jokingly. He stood and walked around to the other man, examining his cheek. It was definitely a scratch, but nothing too bad. As he had assessed before from afar, Goodwin would live.
"You'll be fine. besides, you'll be with me tomorrow, if we can find some time to get away. We can keep a close eye on it. As long as it doesn't get infected, you should be fine." Jack smiled, it was a wonderful night. This was turning out to be a nice night. If it wasn't for all the dead, he might have even enjoyed the crashing surf. As it was, he would be happy to leave, but he supposed there were worse places to be strained. He had no idea how wrong he was.

Goodwin assessed the situation around him. He would have to meet up with another person from The Barracks, but didn't know quite when. Perhaps waiting until after they went to get the transceiver.
"That cut on your shoulder, is it OK?" Goodwin observed the cut. The bleeding had stopped and looked like it had been sown back together. "You do that yourself?"

"Huh?" Jack asked. "Oh yeah, that's fine. A girl named Kate sewed me up. Does it look bad?" He laughed. "I think I'll ask her to go along tomorrow to, then whoever else wants to." He stared thoughtfully at the fire. "Well, I think I'm going to try to get some sleep before then, it's starting to get darker. I have a few more patients to check in on and the I'm calling it a night."
Jack stood and brushed himself off. He walked a few steps to stretch out his stiff legs. "What about you? Got any plans for the night?" He wondered what the man would say. While friendly, he felt like something was different about Goodwin. He couldn't put a finger on it, decided he was being foolish. It was probably his peace corps time, it put him more at ease in a situation like this. Jack envied him more than anything.

Jack stood and brushed himself off. He walked a few steps away. "What about you? Got any plans for the night?" Jack asked.
"Not really, I think I'm going to lie down by the trees and try to get some sleep." Goodwin said. "A good nights sleep does wonders, believe me. I'll see you in the morning Jack." Goodwin said as Jack walked off.
'Add 'Kate' to the list' he thought to himself. He picked himself up and walked to the tree line.
