Overall:
Sam Thomas has a pair of gentle, chocolate brown eyes that reveal a good deal about his true nature. He's a caring soul, and that reflects in his deep, soft brown eyes. They say that sometimes the best way to see a person's emotions is through that feature, and for Sam this is certainly true. The man has light brown hair, which is kept fairly short. It's not so short that it's been reduced to mere bristles, but he always keeps it trimmed so that it doesn't grow down over his ears or eyes. In actuality, that mostly the doing of his mother. When he was younger, she frowned upon "long-haired scoundrels" and kept his cut rather short and neat. Of course, now his grooming his his own matter, but out of habit his hairstyle remains the same. Same also has a good deal of facial hair, with a bit of a rugged-looking beard upon his chin. Though, this too isn't all that long.
Sam is an average sized human being. He was never the most athletic of fellows, but he's not clumsy either. He's simply of an average build. The man stands at about five feet and eight inches, certainly not towering over anyone but feeling that he's at a relatively acceptable height. His body is a little on the stockier sided, perhaps a little wider than some, with broader shoulders. He's not particularly muscular, as that's not really part of the line of his profession.

He would never intentionally hurt anyone, particularly if they have taken no action to warrant it. However, if someone were to harm someone he cares about, he's unlikely to simply sit by and take it. He'll defend the people he loves strongly, but when it comes to defending himself, he's not as assertive.

Sam his very analytic and calculating. He carefully considers his actions and words before executing them, mindfull of potential consequences and resultant complications. Sam is very knowledgable and skilled when it comes to technology, having completed the proper education to become a technician for Oceanic Airlines.
Background[/u]
Family Members:
Mother, Anne Thomas
Father, Peter, deceased
Involvement in the story: He doesn't accept the version of the Flight 815 story given by the media, and is determined to find out if his girlfriend Sonya is still alive.
Character History:
Sam Thomas was born and raised in New South Wales, Australia. He was an only child. His mother had been pregnant once before he was born, but Sam's older brother died in childbirth, so the two never knew each other. Anne and Peter were devastated, and it was several years before they had the heart to try for another child. As a result, both of them were really getting on in their years by the time little Samuel came into the world. Nonetheless, they were absolutely overjoyed at having finally brought a child into the world successfully, and they loved him with fervor starting the very day he entered the open air.
After he finished his schooling, Sam became an IT technician for Oceanic Airlines. It was there that he first met Sonya. She was beautiful, kind, charming. She was Sam's match in personality, and in every other way. It was a while before he actually had the confidence to ask her out the first time, but after they fell into a rhythm together, and became a couple when Sam was about 28, and she 26.
Unfortunately, this time was also marked by tragedy for Sam. Just a year after he met Sonya, he received a phone call from his mum at work one day, bearing terrible news. His father had passed away from a heart attack. Of course, it shouldn't really have been a huge surprise to any of them. Peter wasn't getting any younger, all of the tobacco and alcohol he consumed in his younger years was finally catching up to him. He was taken to the hospital, but they were unable to save him, and he passed away there. Sam was devastated. He'd been close with his father, like many boys are, and it was a difficult time for both he and his mother. Sonya was great; comforting the two of them, bringing over meals, and helping in any way she could. This was really Anne's introduction to Sonya, and she liked her instantly.
At present, Sam and Sonya have been together for eight years, and neither of them is getting any younger. Sam was planning to propose to her. He'd bought a ring, and was just trying to figure out the right way to ask for her hand in marriage. Unfortunately, he never got the change. On September 22, 2004, Sonya went missing along with the rest of the crew and passengers aboard Flight 815. Sam is simply overwhelmed by confusion and despair, and is desperate to find Sonya and make she's still alive.
The Rest[/u]
Roleplay Sample as your character:
Sam just couldn't get the news reel to stop playing over in his mind. He didn't know how long he'd sat there with the remote still clutched in his hand, just staring at the screen. There was nothing to see, since if they could film the plane, that would mean they knew where it was, and that would mean there would be no news piece about it right now. But Sam sat frozen in place, unable to move, unable to tear away his gaze, unable to even breath.
He should have known when Sonya didn't call him that afternoon, that something was wrong. She always called him after her flights were over, when she was off duty, just to let him know she was back. The messages ranged from simply notifying him of her return, to making known her intents to be treated to dinner that evening. Regardless of what she said, she always phoned just to say something after her flights. She was a stewardess, or, well, a flight attendant if you wanted to be politically correct. She worked for Oceanic Airlines just as he himself did. In fact, that's how they met all those eight years ago. So much younger then, and newer to their individual occupations. But Sonya had always been in love with flying and traveling, and she managed to accomplish both through her profession.
And now... now, he supposed, she'd gone missing. Not in the sense of a missing person's case. That might even be less terrifying. If that were the case, he'd be on the phone with an investigator right now. No, this was on a much larger scale. She wasn't the only one missing, because all of the passengers and crew of flight 815 had gone along with the plane. They'd lost communication partway through the flight. Hours passed, and then... there was nothing. No messages came into the control room from the plane, and it never landed in LA. It was gone. And from the predictions the "experts" were making, it couldn't have enough fuel to be in the air any longer. Or so the new caster was saying.
Sam felt hollow inside. He didn't know what to do, or say. He simply sat there on the couch, in the living room of the house he'd finally convinced Sonya to move into with him about a year ago. He was in shock.
