Hurley's shirt was just about drenched with sweat. He felt as though he hadn't stopped moving all morning, with all of the errands he'd been running. It hadn't been easy, to say the least. First he'd had to gather all of the materials, which was quite a task in and of itself. He'd been trying to avoid having to ask Sawyer for anything at all costs, since the guy seemed like that one kid in preschool who would never share his toy unless you traded him a better on in exchange. Hugo wanted this whole thing to just go over as smoothly as possible. He wanted to relieve stress, not create more of it, and he hoped that this fairly simply idea he had would help everyone just cool down a little.
After he'd collected all of the materials, he loaded them all in a backpack and told everyone on the beach to meet him up here in two hours. The place he was now standing in was a grassy meadow of sorts. It was a break between the jungle, where the land started to rise upward a little and head toward the mountains. Luckily, it was relatively flat in this particular expanse of terrain, so he didn't think the slope would really be too much of a problem. The place was about a forty-five minute hike from camp, which wasn't really too bad, all things considered. He'd told everyone there would be a big surprise up there, so he hoped that made them curious to want to come up. And hopefully, what Hurley had prepared for them would put everyone in better spirits, at least for a while.
After he'd gotten up here, Hurley had begun to plot out the course. It was pretty small one, only three holes, actually. For now, that was all he could manage. But hopefully if the idea caught on, they'd be able to add a few more as time went on. He'd dug small, round holes into the earth and then inserted half of a plastic bottle into each one. He'd only taken the bottles that were damaged or punctured, so it wouldn't hurt the group's supplies in any way. Then near each hole Hurley had placed a tall stick with a flag of fabric ripped from one of his shirts, to mark the place where people should be aiming. When he'd finished, he had a nice, albeit primitive, golf course.
Now he stood near the starting point for the first hole. He leaned against one of the larger golf clubs, waiting for his friends to arrive so that he could show them all what he'd done. He was rather excited about it, in spite of himself. He felt as though maybe he'd finally have contributed something to the group that would be worthwhile.

Chris had been sitting the camps and notice Hurley had been running back and forth preparing something. He didn't specifically say waht he was up to but rather to have everyone meet up with him in a couple hours. Chris's curiosity got the best of him and wanted to know what the guy was up to. Hurley was a crafty guy and he thought he was a pretty cool guy.
He began to trek to the grassy meadow that Hurley had told them to meet at and he aw what he had created. .It was a 3 hole golf course! Chris had played golf only a few times, usually with Mitch...he'd taught him how. He wasn't really into the sport, but the thought of havign something new to do was great.
"Hurley this looks awesome dude!" he said

Davie hadn't seen much of Hurley during the course of the morning, which was strange as he was hard to miss and was such a popular person with everyone. After getting something to eat, drink and cleaning up, he began to look around for Hurley, curious as to where the big man had gone.
After asking a couple of people if they'd seen him, the general consensus he got was that Hurley had gone into the jungle and that they were to meet him somewhere in a couple of hours. That didn't really feel right to Davie, not with the polar bears that were running freely around, no matter how strange that was considering it was a tropical island.
Still, heading out, and telling a couple of people where he was, in case he didn't come back for a few hours, he set out into the jungle. After a while in the jungle, he saw a patch in the canopy, and that it was getting lighter. A natural clearing in the jungle? At which point he heard movement just ahead. So the people he'd asked about where Hurley had gone were right in what they said, and where they said he'd be. Providing that this was the right place and that Davie wasn't about to run into some deranged island native.
Stepping into the clearing, which wasn't technically a clearing but a break in the jungle. Seeing the big man, he walked over to the larger, long haired man. "Hey Hurley!" Smiling to see the man safe, but wondering what on earth was going on. "What's happening?"

Boone had woken up that morning and saw Hurley was rather scarce, which was a little odd, since the guy was hard to miss and so popular. When Hurley told the castaways to meet him somehwere beyond the jungle, Boone was a bit curious. After 2 hours, he managed to climb the hills and saw to his amazment, a 3 hole golf course ! Looking towards Hurley, Chris, and a man he didn't recognize Boone said. "You built a golf course ?"

Hurley told everyone to come meet him somewhere when they could. Sawyer was debating if he wanted to go or not. Everyone would more than likely be going and time to himself would be quite nice. The beach would be quite, and he wouldn't have anyone to bother him. However, his curiosity got the best of him. Sawyer made his way through the jungle and to the meeting place.
The sight of this place was interesting. A three hole golf course. Maybe time on this Island wouldn't be so bad since they had something else to do. Sawyer made his way to the others. Two guys he didn't know, Boone, and Hurley were there. "Nice job Jethro," said Sawyer to Hurley referring to the course.

Hurley couldn't help but beam as his fellow survivors began to assemble in the grassy meadow, just as he'd told them all to a few hours ago. There was some curious questioning among them, but he simply smiled broadly at all the posed questions, waiting for them all to assemble before he explained, so that he wouldn't have to do it over and over again. He couldn't help but grin when Chris complimented him. Even Sawyer had a nice remark, despite the inserted nickname, which Hurley was beginning to get used to by now.
"Yeah, I built a golf course!" Hurley said loudly, to make himself heard over the conversation, which began to die once he started to speak. He grinned around at them all, and looked lovingly upon his creation. "I was sitting on the beach this morning, and I just thought, hey, I wish we all had something fun to do, you know?" It seemed like everyone was getting a little down lately, and that was easy to understand. After all, they'd been waiting for rescue for nearly two weeks now, and it was like everyone was just giving up and settling into a domestic routine here. Sure, maybe they weren't going to be saved today or tomorrow, or even next week. But they all just needed to relax and remember how to have fun. "I mean sure, we're kind of stuck here. And, like, we heard that dinosaur thing in the jungle. But life's not all bad, right? We might as well make the most of it."
Hurley lifted the golf club he'd been leaning on into the air and waved it for emphasis. "So, welcome to the first ever Island Open!" His smile only seemed to broaden as he gazed around at his friends and the gold course he'd assembled. "It's a three hole course. Well, for now anyway. All the usual rules apply. So let's line up and start!" Hurley dragged the bag of clubs over and set it at the starting point, for whoever was going to start first.

Feeling a bit curious, Charlie hiked his way up the hill. He had no idea what to expect, but it must've been something big for Hurley wanting a crowd to be there. Using up the rest of his energy, Charlie panted as he finally reached the top. His eyes grew wide, completely surprised by what was before him. "Bloody hell, this is amazing!" Charlie exclaimed not being able to bottle up his excitement. A golf course was the last thing on his mind. It was about time some fun stuff starting happening. Even though Charlie himself wasn't the golf type of guy, he still was eager to play.
His arms hung limply at his sides as he stared in awe at the course. "How? How did ya do it?" Charlie thought out loud, not really expecting a thorough answer. He quickly glanced around at the other people who had arrived there, their expression much like his own.

Chris looked around and saw the clubs Hurley had and picked up the driver. He teed up a ball. He figured since no one else was really going to step up. He would do so. He took a practice swing before hitting the ball pretty well. It landed just on the front end of the green. He handed the driver back to hurley hoping someone else would join in. He looked at them with a smile seeing who would be next.
