The Basics
Name: Claire Hannah Littleton
Age: 22
Place of Residence: Sydney, Australia
Tail, fuselage, Other, or off-island: Fuselage
Appearance
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde
Body Type: Average height, typically slender but not at the moment.
Overall: Claire stands at a perfectly reasonable 5'7" which helps to contribute to her slender, frail appearance. The gift of curves mostly skipped Claire by; although she's by no means overly flat all over, especially recently as she's heavily pregnant. Her skin is pale and milky white, and mercifully unblemished as it's always been that way. This, coupled with her piercing bright blue eyes and soft wavy blonde hair make her quite the beauty. She has a soft heart shaped face with an ever so slightly pointed chin and cheek bones that have a steep visible element to them near the top. Her smile is dazzling and lights up her whole face, lifting her from the status of pretty to beautiful. Although she is by no means vain, and if anything refuses to see her own good looks, which means she doesn't wear much make-up or flaunt herself.
When she was younger she went through a very dark stage and dyed her hair black - which was very striking against her pale skin. Now her hair is once again the pleasant blonde that she was born with, but her wardrobe still contains some remnants from her teenage goth phase, and she owns quite a lot of dark of black clothes. Her style is quite unique, however, and she likes to layer up different t-shirts, and will wear anything from short pleated skirts to normal jeans to slacks in various colours. It's hard to predict and her clothes often match her mood. Now she's on the island, she tends to wear whatever maternity clothes she can salvage from her luggage and has lost her flair of individuality a little.

Overall Personality: If you look at Claire and all you see is blonde hair and blue eyes and instantly think bimbo, then you're dead wrong because this girl is smart. She's not exactly a genius, but she's no imbecile either. With definitely above intelligence, she could really be something on that front, but unfortunately is a little too dreamy and likes to spend her time wondering about other philosophical things rather than spending time boosting other peoples perceptions of her IQ. Still, it's hard to make a fool out of Claire.
As mentioned above, she is a dreamer. Often choosing to spend her time far away and in a happier and more complete fantasy, she doesn't focus as much as she probably should on the present sometimes. Claire is very spiritual and philosophical. She loves astrology and the whole concept of the supernatural. She puts a huge amount of belief into these sort of things, because it's something that probably won't ever be proved either wrong or right. She's learnt that hard way that it hurts too much to put all your faith in something only to have it proved wrong.
Which leads us to her next big trait; lack of trust. Claire is a very sweet, friendly girl but she likes to keep people at a certain distance. Once bitten; twice shy and all, she's already been metaphorically slapped in the face for believing in someone and doesn't want to let it happen again.
Besides this, Claire genuinely is soft hearted and sweet to a point where some of the more skeptical people she knows think she can be slightly nauseating. She can't help it though, as it's just the way she is. She has an endearing sort of childish persona, which isn't put on. With Claire you get nothing but the honest truth, no acts, no facades.
Having said that, she does have a strong headed streak. She's no doormat and she's not going to let anyone walk all over her. She has opinions and isn't afraid to voice them if she thinks that people need to hear them. She's quite brave also, and feels that she needs to be this way more often so often hides her fear - which she has plenty of at the moment.
Background[/u]
Family Members:
Mother; Carole Littleton
Father; Christian Shephard (unknown to Claire)
Half-brother; Jack Shephard (also unknown to Claire)
Reason for Being in Sydney: She was born and lived in Sydney.
Reason for Flying to LA: To meet adopted parents for her baby.
Character History: Claire was raised in Sydney by a single mother. She had only one memory of her father - him singing her a lullaby - and was told that he was dead. She grew up with this false knowledge, passing a normal and reasonably happy childhood with her mother. Sometimes things were hard, but they always got by well enough.
Things got turned upside down when Claire was a teenager and her and her mother were involved in a car accident. Whereas Claire survived and was left with minor injuries, her mother was not so lucky and suffered a great deal of trauma; thus ending up in a vegetative state in hospital. It was around this time, when Claire was working at a tattoo parlour, that her father Christian Shephard took her out for a coffee. He told her that he was her father and about his other family, then suggested that Carole's life support was turned off. Claire didn't take too kindly to this and chose to leave without even finding out his name.
A few years later, she'd changed jobs and started work for low wages as a diner waitress. She learnt that she was pregnant, much to her dismay, and told her boyfriend Thomas. Thomas persuaded her to keep the baby, but soon got cold feet and left her, and in doing so made up her mind that trusting people was a bad idea.
In a bid to find direction, she visited a psychic who was adamant that only Claire raise her child and that she had to keep it. She didn't listen, deciding that she had to give the baby up for adoption if it was going to have a chance, and consulted the psychic again who told her of parents in LA who would adopt her baby and gave her a ticket for Oceanic Flight 815.
She boarded the plane, and then we know what happened next...

Roleplay Sample as your character:
Spreading out the garish towel she'd salvaged from someone's luggage across the sand, Claire sat herself down gently. She'd wandered the camp for a little while, smiling as easily as she could at everyone who happened to chance a glance her way. Everyone seemed to have someone, or they'd found someone at least and they mostly sat or meandered in groups. Claire had talked to a few others, but not really in great detail. She'd not really met anyone she could yet call friend. Not that she could really blame them...she looked about ready to burst which was probably off-putting considering the situation - it'd hardly be convenient to be the heavily pregnant woman's friend when she suddenly went into labour.
"You won't do that to me, will you?" She murmured softly with a slight frown as she rested her hand lightly across her large neat bump, rubbing her thumb in a small soothing circle as if the baby could feel it. Maybe it could, how was she to know?
She also supposed that the baby didn't have much control about when it was born and whether or not she would suddenly go into labour here. She didn't want to have her baby here.
People have been giving birth for millions of years, all on their own. No hospitals, no nothing...
She let a soft sigh part her dry sore lips, still absently moving her thumb in soft reassuring circles over her stomach. A nice thought, but it didn't have the reassuring effect that she'd have really wanted. She wanted to be safe and she wanted her baby to be safe, and having her baby here wouldn't guarantee safety at all.
She hauled herself up into more of a straight backed position, moving carefully and arduously with one arm now wrapped protectively around the stretched fabric of her t-shirt. She was just out of the flickering ring of firelight from the nearest huddled group, a mere silhouette on the edge of everything. The sun was nearly completely down, the sand was soft and firm beneath her, she could see but not hear the reassuring lapping of the ocean a few feet in front of her.
She closed her eyes and breathed in the pleasant salty breeze.
It was her favourite time of day. She loved the beach and she loved sunset and she just found this perfect. Or it would be perfect if it weren't for the fact that she was stranded on an island, her baby probably would not wait, and she was beginning to think that maybe help wasn't coming. If she closed her eyes, she was back in Sydney.
She'd love to be back in Sydney right now.
Humming softly under her breath, Claire kept her eyes closed. She could feel the slight breeze now rather than just being aware of it because of the salty air that clung to the back of her throat. A few strands of wavy blonde hair displaced themselves and brushed up against her forehead, so she lifted her hand to tuck them back behind her ear before resting it back on her stomach, still humming softly.
The crisp crunch of feet on sand behind her killed the quiet melody in her throat, and she instantly shifted round a little to watch for the source of the noise. Seeing nothing but darkness, she continued to look sternly into the dimness of the beach behind her, before hesitantly turning back round to watch the tides again.
This island gave her the creeps sometimes.
