Ana had called the group to a halt so that they could rest. They had been hiking through the jungle for hours already, and from the position of the sun, Eko would guess that it was barely noon. She was a good leader, ana was, but she sometimes lacked that understanding of the state of mind of the sheep she herded. She sought to do what wasa best for them all, but sometimes the survivors weren't quite up to doing what was best for themselves. Now, for example, it probably would have been better for them to carry on through the jungle, putting more distance between themselves and the beach. And therefore, hopefully more distance between themselves and those mysterious kidnappers who had come a few nights ago. But they were all tired, and needed to rest for a moment. So that was finally what Ana called the halt for.
Eko paused to survey the area. It was certainly a good place for a break. To the side was a small cluster of fruit trees. What type they were, Eko had no idea, but he'd been eating fruit from this island for days now without knowing the name of it. It didn't matter, because it was sustainance, plain and simple. In front of the group was a wide stream, several feet across and full of cool, clear water.
Eko made his way through the crowd of people that were milling about. Some were sitting down, others headed to one of the two previously mentioned destinations, in order to refuel. Eko took two pieces of the round, dark orange fruit from one of the trees in front of him and then headed for the stream. The large man crouched in front of the water, closing his eyes for a moment, bathing himself in the sounds of the babbling brook and the muted chatter of the survivors behind him. Then he allowed his eyelids to flutter open, before bending foreward toward the water. He cupped his large hands together and raised some water to his lips. It was unbelievable refreshing as it trickled down his throat, and he greedily scooped some more to his mouth, drinking thirstily.

Hope followed the other survivors through the jungle. She had dirt all over her clothes. The teen could care less, she was 17 years old, although looking 15, and she was free from her family. For once in her life she could feel the thrill of really going on an adventure. She was on an island a place of mysterious secrets and of course people in her group being kidnapped. Hope didn't want to become one of them which caused her to not sleep for long at night. Strangely the girl didn't even feel tired. Her blue eyes were wide awake.
The sun was starting to get at its highest point in the sky it was getting really warm. Hope's mouth watered at looking around to where the group had stopped. Fruit bearing trees to the side and she could hear the trickle of the stream nearby. Hope climbed up one of the trees knowing that some of the better fruits were toward the top and picked one, examining it to make sure it was good. The girl was an adventurer at heart she was always reading books on animals and foods and how to survive. The look of the fruit told her that it was alright to eat.
The girl slid down the tree a little before reaching the lowest branch which was about five and a half feet off the ground. She jumped down letting her short brown hair fly above her and landed in a possission that resembled how ninjas would land. Hope had just missed the stream. The fruit in hand hope used her other hand to cup water from the sream and drink it, it tasted amazing. She looked over and saw a dark skinned man also drinking from the stream.
"Sorry" Hope said in her aussie accent.

Post by Ana-Lucia Cortez on Aug 17, 2008 12:42:00 GMT -5
"We'll stop here to rest for a while. Don't wander off unless you know what you're doing." The brunette had announced. People parted ways instantly. She saw Eko move over to the stream and another girl over there. Brown hues settled on a log not too far away. Hell, she had been walking all this way too. The woman finally gave in and moved over with the large walking stick and sat down on the log. What the hell was she doing? Ana-Lucia could just hear her mother in the back of her mind. How wrong she was how she didn't know what she was doing.
How could the woman let those kids go? When some others had attempted to move on forward Ana snapped. "What did I just say?" she spoke matter of factly and tone rich with defiance. Cortez leaned back a little bit on the wooden log and wiped her forehead with the back of a hand, setting the stick down onto the jungle floor.
She wondered how those poor children were, what happened to them... if they were okay. The Latina frowned as she thought more and more about it, deciding to get up from her sitting place and move on over to the stream. Kneeling down to put her hands in the fresh water and cup them to drink from.
Eko was there, perhaps he was her only friend or glance to humanity. Despite him killing people with his bare hands, she knew it had to be done. And not to cause a panic, but these people deserved to know what had happened. Backing away form the water, Ana set her plan into motion.
"Everyone... I need your attention." she waited till people quieted down. "You all remember that night when ... things happened. We caught the two that were apart of it. It wasn't wild animals...but people." looking to them all.
"They were dead before we could ask questions. So I suggest we finish what we're doing and then keep moving." scuffing her shoe in the dirt slightly, she didn't let her gaze off of them. They deserved to know, they had to know.
It was her job.
