Overall Personality:
Cliff is a generally nice guy. He's always there in a time of need, particularly if you need counsel or just a friendly shoulder to cry on. He's smart and can be rather charismatic when he wants to be. Whilst this guy is into his books, he loves being distracted by people as he is always wanting to know more about a person and what makes them tick.
He has a great sense of humour, though at times it can be rather weird or semi-dark. He has a "Hakuna Matata" attitude to life and never takes things too seriously and he's always willing to pitch in and do his bit for the team. He loves a challenge and will often test himself just for the sake of testing. This is often expressed through a sport but does show its face in other fields.
Cliff does, like every other person on the Earth, get his bad days and his days where the simplest thing will set off his temper. He's generally tough to calm down afterwards and it's usually best to let him vent off his steam. Depending on what or who he's angry at, he will usually apologise afterwards.
In other circumstances, instead of becoming angry or hot headed, he can turn the other way and be rather down on himself. Specially if something goes wrong and he believes he was to fault with the event. However, no matter how long it takes - which usually isn't that long-, he'll come around and be cheerful once again. Him and depressed states of mind don't last very long.
Background[/u]
Family Members: His mother, Stephanie, died when he was very young. His father, David, and younger sister, Laura, live in Ashburton whilst Cliff looks after the family home. Most of his family are either in Australia or North America as they can't stand living in the United Kingdom on principles.
Reason for Being in Sydney: Visiting one of half of his relatives and site seeing.
Reason for Flying to LA: Visiting other half of his relatives and site seeing.
Character History:
Cliff was born in Ashburton, Devon on 3rd May 1971 to Stephanie and David O'Connell. He had a relatively normal childhood and gained a younger sister six years after his own birth. Not long after Laura was born, Cliff's mother died from her injuries from a car accident. David never fully recovered, though he managed to keep providing and looking after Cliff and Laura with some help from various family and friends.
For a time, the family had moved to Sydney so the family there could help them out a bit more till David was better with dealing with Stephanie's death. They moved back to Devon when Cliff was fifteen; Laura nine and continued their schooling. Cliff's speciality lay in words and arts and would come to write one best seller, which got him a decent amount of money, though he loved writing it for the sake of writing.
David and Laura moved to live in Ashburton itself whilst Cliff remained behind to look after the farm that the family owned, so that Laura could be closer to the school and friends she had in Ashburton. They had also rented out an outhouse to bring extra currency even though Cliff did pitch in with the running of the farm and financial affairs.
He had relations with only two woman in his life time and neither ended well. They didn't like the fact that Cliff loved his family home, liked to use Dartmoor for his inspiration when it came to his writing and that he was so into his words. Cliff never really tried after that but got one with life none the less.

Roleplay Sample as your character:
Darkness. An insatiable darkness that held him in its undying grasp. It was with great effort that he managed to win past the tight fingers of shadow and forced his weary eyes to open. He closed them almost straight after opening them, the light was so vivid and sharp. He blinked several times, bring up a tired hand to shield his eyes and let them adjust to the severity of the light difference.
Once he was accustomed to it, he peered round blearily. He could really see much and realised quickly he was lying on his back. he also realised he couldn't move his legs very much and peered down at himself only to see them caught under a hunk of metal, which was horribly twisted along the edges of one side. He frowned and tried to get himself out from the metal trapping him in place. He gave up when a searing pain coursed up his side and he screamed in reaction.
He decided to see where he was before he would try again. He never had liked giving up at the first hurdle. Things never did come easy for those like him. The place was alive with shouts coming from other people so he knew he wasn't alone out here and that others around were in trouble like he was. It was a comforting thought. He tried to get a grip on his wayward breathing before he tried to free himself again, but to no avail.
He paused for a while before making himself sit up and he managed, to dig at the sand near his legs despite the pain it caused him. Tears were literally falling down grimy cheeks as he continued but he didn't give up. He doubted anyone heard him over the din of other others around him. Finally, he managed to get enough away from his limbs for him to pull himself out and got himself a fair way away from the hunk of twisted metal before allowing himself to collapse, knowing he was safe at least for now.
