Chris was walking around and realized he hadn't spoken to Jack yet. His head had been throbbing and the gash had scabbed but was still hurting and he was afraid he'd get it infected. He looked around and spotted the guy that had been pointed out earlier to him. He looked aroundbefore coming over his hands in his pockets.
"Hi Jack? I'm Chris McCormick...I sorta stumbled in here about a week ago and haven't had the chance to check in with you. Someone said you sorta are keepin track of everyone and stuff" he said to him. "And I was wondering if you have any advil or telenol or something because my head's been killin me since the crash" he said to him.

"Yeah, yeah man, no worries. Let me take a look." Jack had Chris sit down and inspected the gash on the young man's head. It wasn't too deep, but he could see why the guy was asking for something to help the pain. He pulled out one of the small containers he carried around with him all the time and pulled out two aspirin.
"Take one now, one before you go to bed. We've got to use these sparingly man, it's all we've got for now, and I can't waste too many on a headache, you know?" Jack smiled and reached his hand out. "Nice to meet you though Chris, and yeah, I'm Jack Shephard, I'm a doctor."

Chris looked at him and saw the aspirin in his hand. He heard him say they needed it sparingly so Chris sighed. "You keep those then, I'm sure I can fight through it for a few more days" he said to him not wanting to be a bother. Chris had taken care of himself most his life and he didn't like to get in the way of others. He would take of his problems on his home usually. He stood up and smiled "Nice to meet ya" he said. He began to walk out hoping he didn't have to worry aboput anymore injuries.

"Alright, well, thanks man, that's nice of you." Jack looked at the man with a new respect. He hadn't taken this guy for the type to turn down the meds that would ease pain, but maybe there was more backbone there than Jack thought. He reopened the bottle and deposited the meds back in the container before sealing it and hiding it back in the faded denim pocket of his jeans.
"So, what's your story Chris? Where are you from, all that good stuff, what do you do?"

He looked at Jack and nodded. He felt a little weary speaking of his life and such. He looked at him with a smile "I was on vacation in Sydney with a friend" he said not getting into details. "I'm from a hick town in Kansas" he said to him with a laugh "Hutchinson, Kansas" he said his southern accent hinting out a bit.
"How bout you?" he asked him.

"Picking up my dead father." He looked down at the ground momentarily then back up at Chris. "No, no... No sympathies, please. We weren't close, and I'm not crying over it." He looked over Chris' injury one final time. "You seem to be fine now. Anything else I can do for you? A group of us are going out to hunt down the transceiver, so I should really get going, unless there's anything else."
Jack looked over the beach and saw those who would be going with him. Charlie, Kate, and Goodwin. They all appeared to be packing up as he had been, almost ready to go. He looked back at Chris and smiled, waiting for his reply.
