Here are a few tips and tricks to help you fill in more detail on your application and build a more solid character.
The Basics
Name:
Age:
Place of Residence:
Section on the Plane, or not on the plane [Other]:
Appearance
Eyes:
Hair:
Body Type:
Overall:
Really go into some detail here. It's okay to repeat the eye, hair and body type descriptions if its for the purpose of going into more detail, which is a good thing to do. Think about the following when writing up this section:
- eye color
- hair color, length, texture
- skin tone
- height, weight, and body type
- facial structure
- have they always looked the same? Has their appearance changed over time?
- do they care about their appearance or not?
- clothing style
Personality
Likes:
This can be anything; objects, passtimes, personality traits, you name it.
Dislikes:
Same as likes, it can be anything, such as those things listed above as well as any pet peeves, phobias, etc.
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Overall Personality:
Detail, detail, detail! If you're having trouble with this section, you might want to try to pick a few adjectives that describe your character. Courageous, cowardly, out-going, shy, funny, serious, intelligent, clever, impulsive, etc. Then once you've picked those characteristics, try to write a few sentences to a paragraph about each one. Then, when you put them all together, you'll have a nice, strong personality.
Here are a few ideas to think about:
- humorous? serious?
- pet peeves
- use adjectives to describe them, and then expand upon that point. For example. "So and so is extremely brave," followed by an explanation of why they are considered brave.
- calm or easily angered?
- social skills
- goals
- personal tendencies
- do aspects of their character ever become weaknesses?
Background[/u]
Family Members:
All members of the immediate family; you don't need to include cousins, grandparents, etc unless they are important to your character's life and plot. You may want to briefly describe the type of relationship your character holds with each family member as well.
Reason for Being in Sydney:
Reason for Flying to LA:
Character History:
When writing history, you really have a lot to go on. Most characters here are at least teenagers, and that means they have many, many years of history under their belt. Again, detail! Let us know everything about your character and the way they grew up.
Try to include the following:
- birthdate
- birthplace
- some information about the family - parents professions, economic status, social class, etc
- describe their home, their home environment
- were they close with one particular relative?
- how did they change as they grew older?
- significant events in their life
- spouse?
- character defining events?
