[open for anyone who wants to start RPing here]
Locke walked - walked - to the edge of the nearby jungle with this new face, Hurley. They had all introduced themselves back at the crash site and Hurley had promised to help John gather some wood for a fire. The jungle seemed interesting, John would definetly check it out later.
He found some sticks and started collecting them. "So, Hurley, what brings you to this paradise?" he asked his new partner with a grin.

The jungle rose before them, tall and dark. Hurley paused for a moment as Locke moved on ahead of him, disappearing into the foliage. He wasn't quite thrilled about the idea of going in there, to be honest. It was dark, and forbidding looking, and they didn't know what was in there. Basically, all of the characteristics of things Hurley tried to avoid, on general principle. But Locke had already walked on ahead of him, and now he had no choice but to follow through on his promise and keep going.
Thankfully, Locke didn't go too deep into the jungle. He stopped about twenty yards in, and began to collect firewood as he'd told Jack they would. Hurley followed suit after a moment, though he kept throwing anxious glances over his should every time he heard the snapping of a twig or the call of a bird. "Paradise?" Hurley repeated, looking skeptical. "Dude, we just crash landed...on an island. And there are... dead people, back there!" He gave Locke a lingering look, and then bent to pick up another small branch for the fire. "I wouldn't exactly call that paradise." Hurley tilted his head upward, and peered up through the canopy of leaves. Small patches of sunlight filtered down through the trees and came to rest on the jungle floor, casting almost eerie glows on the underbrush. "Uh... Locke, right? Are you sure we should be in here... alone?"

Locke could see that Hurley wasn't really comfortable about being here - in the island or in the woods. "I wouldn't exactly call that paradise." Hurley said.
"Well, despite the little problem we seem to be experiencing, this place is a paradise.. this is a place where miracles happen!"
He collected a few more sticks and continued his speech;
"Do you believe in miracles, Hurley? I sure do believe, I've experienced my share of them already.."

Hurley listened to Locke speak, with an obviously skeptical look on his face. To Locke, this might be paradise, but to him it was just a chunk of land that was, at present, filled with dead bodies and jagged metal pieces of what had once been a plane full of passengers. Yeah, so it looked like a beach resort--big deal? Hurley would much rather be sitting in his living room, downing a $7.99 bucket of Mr. Cluck's chicken wings than have all the island beach resorts in the world, at the moment. "Whatever dude." Hurley said absently, trying to focus on the task at hand rather than whatever creature was likely to jump out of the forest and attack him.
"Miracles?" Did Hurley believe in miracles? He didn't really know. But at the moment he wasn't feeling too inclined to. After all, their plane had just fallen out of the sky. If miracles happened, wouldn't everyone have lived? Wouldn't the pilot have been able to pull out of the dive just in time? If miracles happened, they wouldn't be in this mess right now. "I dunno. When you say you've experienced miracles...?" He trailed off in question.

Goodwin continued running in the jungle. He had covered a lot of ground pretty quickly and was quietly impressed with himself. He suddenly stopped as he heard someone in the distance. Was it them? People from the plane? They survived!?
He looked around and saw to sharp tree branch on the ground. He braced himself. He needed to look as if he just crash landed, but at the same time didn't want to hurt himself at the cost.
"Screw it." he said and cut his cheek with the branch. He was in a lot of pain, but kept quiet. He took some of the earth and rubbed it on himself and his clothes and approached the two men. One was bald with a cut on his eye and the other was a large man.
"Hey!" he said, conveying his voice to sound like he was looking for someone else on the plane. "Over here!"

Locke had already collected a lot of wood. As he put them all in a pile on the ground, he thought he had hurt branches cracking in the jungle. Nah, it was probably nothing.. "When you say you've experienced miracles...? Hurley trailed off in question. Locke was just about to answer him when he heard a male voice. "Hey! Over here!" He looked around to see who else was nearby. The voice had come from the jungle - was there survivors in there too? he thought and ran towards the sound. When he was a couple of meters in there he saw a man standing there, near a big tree. Locke approached him. The man was dirty and he had a nasty looking cut on his cheek.
"Are you alright?" Locke asked. He turned around quickly and yelled "We need a doctor in here! Go get Jack!"
He didn't actually know if he had shouted it specifically to Hurley, but it wasn't important.
"Are you hurt? Can you walk with me to the beach?" Locke asked the man. "Were you on the plane?" He bombed the man with questions.

"Are you alright?" Locke asked. He turned around quickly and yelled "We need a doctor in here! Go get Jack! Are you hurt? Can you walk with me to the beach?" Locke asked him. "Were you on the plane?" Goodwin needed a decent excuse to why he was in the jungle rather than on the beach.
"Yeah.. I'm OK. What happened? Yeah, I was on the plane. I hadn't put my seatbelt on.. I tried too.. It happened so fast.. I don't know, I fell out of the plane in mid-flight and then I went out. I landed on a heap of bushes next to some reeds about half a mile inward. Are there more people here alive?" Goodwin said, taking a set of sharp breaths in after each sentance.
'There, that outta do it' he thought to himself

((I can see you're at the beach already, so I'll just wrap this thread up. I hope you don't mind if I god-mod you a little..?))
Locke wasn't suspicious at all, this man was convincing.
"Come, let's walk to the beach." Locke said and started cutting large branches out of the way with his big knife. "The plane crashed here, it's been about an hour or so. We're trying to make a fire and some are building shelters, too." Locke looked at the man to see if he would be following. "My name is Locke, by the way, John Locke." The man told him that his name was Goodwin. Together they walked to the beach and Locke walked to another direction. "I'll see you later!" he yelled to Goodwin, who was apparently talking to Jack already.
