Skinner smiled bit, for the first time in a while. She sat in the garden they'd discovered a few days before, and she scrawled sketches into a notebook she'd salvaged from her pack. She dres aimlessly across the pages, nothing really in perspective that suited how she felt. She was attempting to move forward with life. Was this part of the plan? Getting stranded here to move forward? Perhaps. She'd never know, but she trusted in it, however foolishly it may be.
She sighed again, leaning against the tree she sat under, the shade cool on her skin. It was still unbearably humid and hot, but the shade made everything less...glowing. She closed her eyes fro a moment, humming softly to herself. She was getting back to herself a bit. Going back to the things she'd loved and been so caged by. And it felt great.

Charlie panted as he came up from the hill leading to the garden. He hadn't gotten the chance to see it yet, so he figured now would be a good time to do so. The sun was scorching hot, and Charlie was willing to do anything for a little shade. Well, somewhere that wasn't located inside the creepy jungle. There was no telling what was inside.
Once Charlie noticed there was someone underneath the nearby tree, he straightened up. She seemed in to be drawing, something that he was never good at. Carefully, Charlie started his way to her. "Hey, mind if I sit?" He asked her but remembered that it was too hot to sit anywhere else. Hoping he didn't come off as rude, Charlie went ahead and sat next to her. "I'm Charlie by the way" He introduced himself with a grin.

Skinner jumped a little at the man that walked up, but she relaxed a little bit. She still wasn't great with close male encounters, especially being alone, but she worked to keep her tension down. She closed her notebook, rather embarrassed he'd seen her drawing and looked over at him.
"Well I suppose you can. But only because it's hot, and I'd hate to be responsible for a puddle replacing you. If it hasn't already happened." She wiped her forehead, wiping her hands on her shorts. She smiled a bit, looking over at Charlie. "I'm Skinner." She pulled her hair up from where it had ben around her shoulders, it was getting unbearable, and honestly she was beginning not to care anymore about her hair care. In fact it probably wouldn't matter anymore, seeing as they weren't getting rescued any time soon.

Charlie couldn't help but grin when she jumped slightly at his sudden appearance. He wasn't surprised considering the garden was surrounded by tall grass which was hard to see through. It was also very quiet and peaceful there. Luckily a small cloud passed infront of the sun, blocking the brightness only for a few minutes. Charlie then felt his eyes relax from squinting nearly all day.
"Well look on the brightside, you would have some water to drink" He joked about her comment of him becoming a puddle. "Make that tasty, fulfilling, thirst quencher water" He added with short chuckle at the end. Charlie didn't want to imagine water though because then it would make him hungry. And there wasn't much of the lunch packages from the plane crash left.

Skinner chuckled lightly, and nodded. "I suppose that's right," she said. Leaning her head back on the tree. She was glad that the small cloud had covered the sun a tad, making everything easier to see. She inhaled and exhaled, smelling the, though humid, fresh air.
"This is a pretty place, this garden," Skinner said finally, striving for a bit of conversation. She didn't know how many of her bruise Charlie could see, but she strived for a distraction to keep the attention off them. Her confession meter had been used up this week between Jack and Emily and Sawyer.

Charlie grinned at her reply. He was glad to hear someone laugh. It had been a while since he had last heard someone. He yawned softly and allowed his back to fully rest against the tree. He felt oddly tired but maybe it was because this was the first non dangerous looking place he had been in since the crash.
He nodded but then realized that Skinner probably couldn't see his face. "Er, yeah...it is" He softly replied while turning to look at her. She almost looked like she was uncomfortable, hiding something. Charlie didn't want to lose his company, so he figured he might as well stop studying her. Facing the garden once more he asked, "So...what are your thoughts on this bloody island?" It might've sounded like an odd question but one thing was for sure, this island didn't seem....normal.

Skinner watched him turn toward her a bit, but that didn't bother her as much as the studying on her face he did. Or seemed to do. But she fought to remain halfway civil and not retort to her defensive side, though she couldn't help that squirmy feeling next to males. It was just going to haunt her, for a while probably.
"Eh, could be a lot worse. Though it doesn't seem extremely...." she bit her lip and thought for a moment, looking at the garden, then snapping her eyes back to Charlie's. "Normal. I mean, it should be charted and we should be found. But I have some feeling no one knows we crashed. And no one knows this exists," she siad, gesturing to the foliage around them. She paused, but then offered a small weary chuckle. "Or perhaps my imagination's getting the better of me." But she knew better. They should be found.

Charlie listened deeply to her thoughts. He wanted to be comforted that maybe this island was normal because at the moment, he wasn't feeling that. Skinner's thoughts were just about the same as Charlie's. There was a strange feeling that no one knew what had happened to them, but the chances of that were very unlikely. Then again, who knew...
"Nah, I don't think you're crazy....I mean, rescue should've came by now a long time ago, right?" He said to her. "What if we're stuck here? None of us even know if people are coming or not" Charlie sighed. It was nice having a serious conversation about the truth of what was happening to them. Charlie was pretty sure that Skinner could handle taking in these new scary thoughts.

Skinner laughed once, but without humor. "We don't know. But, if there happens to be cannibals on the island, that redneck Sawyer is going first," she growled, rather at odds after meeting him the first day. he wasn't her favorite on the island, by far. "But I understand your point. We should be rescued, but we're not. And as to what happens next? I have no idea."
Skinner had settled a bit, not as uncomfortable around Charlie as before. Perhaps she'd finally get over her trust issues around men...eh perhaps not. She sighed softly, drifting a hand to her abdomen subconsciously. She'd figured it all out that morning, everything that was going on with her body with a conversation with Claire. And honestly, that scared the h*ll out of her. But she couldn't be scared now, not when most of the castaways were. There had to be a few backbones at that point, and Skin had spent her whole life being the backbone for somebody, this was no different.

Charlie grinned at her reply and suddenly became excited at the word cannibals, which made him think of ancient tribes. That lead to his King Kong theory he had explained earlier to Jack, Kate, and Goodwin, but they didn't seem to soak in the idea. Facing Skinner, Charlie began speaking with eagerness in his eyes. "Cannibals! Ancient Tribes! See I knew I wasn't the only one thinking it" He noted with a smirk and nudged Skinner softly.
"Ya know, like King Kong...it all fits, the monster, the mysterious island, that must be why no one had found us yet. What if we're on an uncharted island, and there is a humongous monster living here!" Charlie exclaimed, his voice rising with every word. He was getting so into his theory that he had completely moved his body to face Skinner's. He waved his hands in the air ecstatically. "Don't you see it?" He asked. "Maybe we need a human sacrifice..." He muttered softly to himself.

Skinner tensed at his nudge, but relaxed, not being able to hold it when she started laughing. She laughed a lot harder than she had in a while, shaking her head at Charlie. "It does fit actually. And to think, I just thought we were stranded. Silly me."
She laughed, shaking her head. "A human sacrifice? Then who! Who is worthy enough to be eaten by King-Kong's baby brother?" she grinned, obviously teasing, but the lighthearted fun was enough to get Skinner's spirits up and her happiness flowing a bit. It had been a while since she'd laughed like that, and honestly...it was refreshing.

"Ah, don't worry about it" Charlie replied while waving his hand carelessly. He grinned once Skinner started laughing. It felt good to make someone laugh especially in this situation. It was almost Charlie's goal to brighten up everyone's day since the crash. So far he wasn't doing that bad, he had made a few people smile. Charlie was feeling more comfortable with Skinner now, he had almost gotten past the acquaintance wall.
"Lets see..." He muttered actually thinking long and hard about who to sacrifice. Like they were ever going to do that. "Hmm maybe someone with dark brown curly hair....a woman...." He began with a mischievous grin. "Maybe someone with the name Skinner? Yeah, I think that would do" Charlie finished and gave her a playful mysterious glare.

Skinner gasped with fake enthusiasm, putting her hand to her mouth. "You wouldn't dare," she said deliberately, pursing her lips stubbornly. "I was thinking more of a man, with blond hair and stupid looking beardy-thing named Charlie." She gave a thoughtful smile, holding back her own chuckles.
She shook her head at him, raising an eyebrow. "Then of course, we could both go try to find it. I'll let you lead and when I hear the screams I'll turn back to warn the others." She laughed and grinned again, her rarely seen dimples showing.

Charlie widened his eyes in return to her gasp. "Oh, but I would" He noted in a soft voice. Hearing her describe his beard made him give off a short laugh. It was certainly an interesting way to describe him. "Whew, sounds like a handsome man to me, I wouldn't mind looking like that untamed beast" Charlie replied with a smirk.
Even though the whole King Kong theory was just for fun, Charlie wouldn't mind going through the jungle just to search for the so called ancient tribe and mysterious monster. He kept his mouth shut considering people may think he was crazy if he wanted to do that. "Brilliant! When we found the monster I can tie you up as the sacrifice, but then of course I'd have to save you later on" He grinned thoughtfully.

Skinner laughed and shook her head, thinking of actually venturing out to do that. It would be fun and interesting of course, but truth was that it could be extremely dangerous as they didn't know what to expect.
"I'm sure you would. And I would have already cut myself down by then and have fixed a trap for you, mate," she replied, her accent shining through. It was beginning to rag her nerves, reminding her of everything she left behind in Sydney. Al the things she was running from But there would always be one thing she couldn't run from. And that was resting in her stomach right then.
"Then," she said finally, distracting herself. "I can leave you in a hole somewhere to appease the beast and make my escape."
